The A to Z of Fine Time Pieces

February 28, 2018 Leave a Comment

For a while, it looked like the wrist watch was going the way of the 8track cassette.  With so many digital devices displaying the time, (including the cable box that flashed 12:00 o’clock for months at my Nana’s house) it seemed that everywhere you looked, the time stood out, eager to let you know just how late you were for that appointment.  Then, cell phones became the norm, and the proliferation of time telling devices again, seemed to spell certain doom for watches.  However, purveyors of fine time pieces never saw those tawdry devices as competition.  Not only were they designed with planned obsolescence, but they lacked the beauty of design and precious metals that have always attracted the watch collector.  Serious collectors marvel at jeweled pieces made in the 19th century.  It’s hard to imagine Nana’s cable box in someone’s collection of electronics from K-Mart.

Recently I took my computer to the shop to find out why the battery would not hold a charge.  It made it nearly impossible to do my work or to download important information.  As much as I had paid for that computer, it was not reliable compared to the watch with a self-winding mechanism I had worn the day before.  Nor would it ever be as valuable.

Just a few days ago, a friend called to say the watch I’d given him that belonged to my father was still working, nine years later, when he retrieved it from his storage unit.  If you’ve ever thought about investing in a classic timepiece, now would be a good time to start.  Right now, Ashford, a company known for its extensive collection of fine quality watches and timepieces is offering exceptional savings through Groupon on their inventory.  From Armand Nicolet to Zenith, you can use an ashford coupon from Groupon Coupons to acquire that gold or diamond studded watch you’ve dreamed about for years.  If something less audacious is your taste, just check out their offerings on their website for you’re sure to find the perfect piece for your taste and budget.  You can shop by brand for men’s and women’s watches, or by function.  If you’ve always wanted a calendar watch, a fashion, dress, casual or sports watch, you’ll find a wide selection, at reasonable prices with the quality and workmanship guaranteed.
