3 ways your boss can kill you

October 17, 2011 9 Comments

There are two kinds of bosses, the nice ones who are always there for you, understanding and letting you off the hook all the times. There are also the kind of bosses who are always yelling at you and bossing you around all day long. Both of these bosess have something in common and and that is they can literally kill you, maybe not now but somewhere down the line. Don’t believe me? read on.

Bad bosses can increase your risk of heart diease by 66%, especially in men. Studies shows that these bosses can keep your adrenaline and cortisol levels very high. As a result, putting a very high strain on your system and draining away all your energy very fast.

The average Americans spends about 23 minutes commuting to work everyday. At the same time while you’re sitting in your car, you can gain weight and could waste years off of your life. The same thing applies when you’re sitting in your cubicle for 6 or more hours a day straight, you are increasing your risk of dying. So get up every so often and stretch, take a walk outside, do whatever but don’t sit there for 6 to 8 hours straight. Sitting down all day can also slows down your metabolism which can results in weight gain.

Lack of sleep from your overtime hours can also results in greater consequences. The average adult needs about 7.5 to 9 hours of sleep each day in order to function properly. Anything less than this, you run a higher chance of chronic sleep deprivation which can lead to weight gain, trouble remembering, moodiness, lack of motivation, reduced immunity and among many other health related problems. Below is a chart showing how many hours you need to sleep in accordance to your age.

Newborns (0-2 months) 12 – 18
Infants (3 months to 1 year) 14 – 15
Toddlers (1 to 3 years) 12 – 14
Preschoolers (3 to 5 years) 11 – 13
School-aged children (5 to 12 years) 10 – 11
Teens and preteens (12 to 18 years) 8.5 – 10
Adults (18+) 7.5 – 9

I need more sleep. The baby is stealing my sleep! Sitting in front of the computer 6-8 hours a day at work and 2-3 hours a day at home is not working out. I gotta figure something out soon.
    Congratulation BTW. 😉

Heh! I consider it a good night if I get six hours of uninterrupted sleep. Lucky I have a nice boss, eh?

I’ve had those bosses that increase the stress levels. Not good. I’ve noticed as an adult I really feel it now when I don’t get enough sleep. When I was younger it barely phased me.
