Getting paid from Textbroker!

September 26, 2011 18 Comments

A little over a month ago, I asked a question in the Yakezie forum about how to make a little bit of money online to cover the cost of hosting for my new site. Why? because when you have free time to make money online by writing articles, why not?? One of the members recommended me to try out Textbroker because he was having quite a bit of success with it so I thought I’d give it a try. As a result, I’ve written a few articles for them and so far has made $17 this month so my question is answered and now I’m able to pay for my hosting for 2 months! oh yeah!

Textbroker is a freelance writing service that pays you for each article that you write. The articles that you write are generally very short from 200 to 350 words so I can usually write one in less than 30 minutes. They pay you by the words and each word can be anywhere from $.01 to $1. How much you get paid for each word depends on how many stars they rate you after submitting your first article and it goes up to 5 stars which is the highest.

How you get paid…

Textbroker acts as the middleman between you and the clients(people who actually pays you). The clients will provide jobs with specific instructions on how they want the articles to be written but don’t worry, they’re usually very easy to follow and most are just SEO driven articles which doesn’t require a lot research, if any. Once you submit your article, the clients will have a chance to go over it and either accept the article, deny it or ask you to revise it within a certain period of time. All my articles has been accepted so far so as long as you follow their instructions, you should be fine. They pay through PayPal twice a month and once you reach $10, you can request payout.

Final words…

The only con that I can see in this service is that you’re getting paid by the article, so once you are paid you don’t really own the information anymore and that might turn off some people. I only recommend this to someone who are just starting out with freelance writing and getting your feet wet, improve your writing skills and getting paid at the same time. Also, for someone who are just looking for a little side income to pay for hosting, like me for example. Can you make a living with this? I’ve heard of some who are making full-time income off of this but be advised, you WILL write a lot and it will be hard work to reach that level. Like all things in life, no pain no gain.

Spread the word!

I’ve looked into purchasing article to supplement my posts, but I haven’t taken the plunge yet. It seems like a great service and now I know two Yakezie members who are writers! That’s a win-win for me. 😉

Okay, I couldn’t resist after reading this post. I wrote my first post and got $4. Not bad for the 20 mins I spent on it. They ranked my sample writing at 3… I wish it were a 4. Any tips on increasing that?

Wow you signed up and got approved that fast? Great job:D and 4 dollars to start! Very nice. The only way they raise
Your star rating is by writing more and more, they rate you for each article that you submit and if they think your materials are
Worthy of 4 stars then they will raise it.

Yeah, I couldn’t believe it myself. I signed up and got a response saying it can take a week to rate my writing sample (which I just threw together). 15 minutes later I got an email saying I was approved. 🙂 Thanks for the tip. I will try to improve the quality to make the big bucks.

Okay, you’ve attracted my attention. That sounds like a great way to make a few bucks. Question- does everybody start at a certain level or are you put into the level depending on the quality of your sample?

Jen, It depends on the quality of your sample. I was put into a 3 star rating after getting accepted. I’m up 20 something bucks now 😀

Staff writing positions are generally $20 -$40 range. How much you can earn for a post of, say 800 words through TB?

That depends on your level really, for me right now would be $8. You can also set your own rates for when a client chooses only you to write his articles. I would love a have a real staff writing position though but don’t know where to look.

Cool service. Thanks for the heads up. If you’re interested in staff writing, maybe you can post it up in the Yakezie forums.
