When you’re stressed out at work with the economy the way that it is right now, many will have to face the fact that the workplace is going to get a lot more stressful. It doesn’t matter what level you’re at in your job, whether you’re the president or working in the mail room; stress can come to anybody. Stressing out at work is common, you have your boss yelling in one ear and your co-workers yelling in the other. One important thing to remember is how you manage your level of stress. You can’t control the company’s budget cuts or the layoffs rate, but you can control yourself from being overwhelm with stress and anxiety.
Managing your stress can have a really big impact on how your co-workers sees you; physically and emotionally. It can get your fired or promoted, there’s a positive or negative effect, your choice. The less stress you have, the more happier you seem and then others will start to come to you and being able to build good relationships based on that.
Of course there are things that are out of your control and you can’t help but be stressed out; things such as fear of being layed off, failure to meet management’s expectations, having to work longer hours. All these things can add up and I want to show you how some of the ways to reduce your level of stress.
- Go to the gym – If you can’t afford to go to the gym, take a walk around the nearest park in your town. Exercising does wonders to your body as it gives you energy to perform and you’ll be glad the next day you’re going to work all energized.
- Eat healthy – Yes this was coming, try to avoid junk food because some can have the tendency to make you fall asleep and you really don’t want to be caught falling asleep at work right?
- Sleep – Most importantly, get enough sleep every night and your body will thank you for it. When you’re well rested, you’ll be ready to face whatever the workplace throws at you.
- Clean up your workspace if it’s too messy and it’ll make you look good every time your boss walks by.
Whenever you feel like you’re facing tough challenges at the workplace, don’t over think it. Look at it as another way you can improve yourself and take it to the next level. As you learn more on how to control your emotions at work, you’ll begin to think clearer, and be able to tackle whatever comes at you.

I totally agree with your tips here. I find that exercise helps me in general not just at work. I find when I work out I feel better, sleep better, and have less nervous energy. In fact if I miss a workout I really notice it.
especially sitting in an office, I HAVE to work on my abs. If I don’t for like a week, I can’t sit up straight and I would slouch and my back would hurt
Stress can sure complicate things. I don’t have a job, unless you count blogging, but I still get stressed at times. Exercise always helps out during the day, for me at least. Also, clearing the clutter from my work area like you mentioned. I cannot get anything done unless it’s clear and when I can’t get stuff done—I stress. In the evenings, if I’m still super-stress, I love to take a nice long bath with Dead Sea Salts and Jasmine Vanilla aromatherapy bubble bath—life suddenly gets way better. 🙂 Great post Aaron.
